What do they feel like?
Some havve the misconception chemical peels are extremly painful and leave the skin red and peeling. Although slight rosiness is expected immediately after treatment this will only last a short time, and for most people no peeling will occur. Peels often feel tingly when applied to the skin but are only left on for a tolerable 1-5 minutes. When the peel is neutralized immediately after any minor discomfort is relieved.
What to avoid?
It is recommended that a client go for one hour after a peel without makeup to further the benefits of the peel. Staying out of the sun for 24-48 hours is strongly recommended, as well as use of a sunscreen of SPF 30. Any other exfoliation included the use of retinoids and mechanical exfoliants (face scrubs) should be avoided for 24-48 hours before and after treatment.
